Thanks to the contract with Iraq, which anticipates delivery of 20 training aircrafts "lasta", Pančevo-based factory "Utva" is going to restart production of airplanes.
According to the words of the CEO of "Utva-avioni", Tomislav Bjelogrlić, the contract with Iraq, worth 6m USD, will make it possible for the factory to keep 72-year tradition of airplane production.
- I am sure that the difficult times are behind us because we have hired 90 new workers, so that we now have more than 260 employees. There is a plenty of work, and that is why we have introduced a six-day working week, which will help us respect the deadlines - Bjelogrlić said to the press and added that three aircrafts were being assembled at the moment, the first of which would be ready for the flight to Iraq the next week.
