There are only 12 stores in Belgrade with non-standardized footwear sizes

How to find shoes of your size? For persons with average foot this may not be such a problem, but for those wearing extremely large sizes, finding the right shoes is a real nightmare.

There are 12 stores in Belgrade which sell lady shoes in sizes from 40 to 45, and for men in sizes from 47 to 56. However, such stores are not primarily equipped with shoes and mostly they lack of sufficient number of pairs for interested customers.

Earlier such stores were greater in number, but most of it today don’t exist. According to Daniel Filipovic, owner of “Guliver” store, which takes orders to make adequate shoes, the problem is in the funds necessary to make one shoe of not standardized size.

- In order to make a shoe of not standardized size, you need to have a special fitting, made in Slovenia, and a person who will make the shoe, who usually asks for its work more money, and then when you count two and two the work is twice as expensive as to make the shoes of average sizes. “Guliver” store has 40 models of shoes made of Italian leather. The interest is not big, as there are a great choice of snickers sold in sports stores which are made in “extreme” sizes, says Mr. Filipovic for “Danas” newspaper.

The price of shoes for persons with big feet is between 4 and 6 thousand dinars. According to Mr. Filipovic, many customers complain that because of their low budget they can not afford the shoes for their size, and that’s why the store offers purchase on three monthly rates. Our lady customers with big feet can find around 150 different models of shoes in “Beostep” store, and the models are made for persons from 12 to 90 years.

- We import shoes from Spain and Italy by order. We have elegant shoes, flat ones, orthopedic heals shoes, and the price range is between 6.000 to 13.000 RSD. We also have booths, for 16.000 to 23.000 RSD, said Mirjana Mirkovic, a saleswoman in “Beostep”.

Regarding the wardrobe, there is a great number of boutiques that offer XL size of clothes. Still, wardrobe is not such a problem for bigger sized persons as they can always have it made or made it themselves if they know how to, while the problem of the “big foot” is not so easy to solve.
