A cluster of florists, which gathers 100 producers from Serbia, has delivered 100.000 of pieces of herbal plants to their buyers in Great Britain, and they made a profit of around 50.000 EUR, as announced by the association.
President of the Florists Cluster, Simon Zecevic, said that they exported basil and parsley in most quantities, and that all herbal plants were produced in three-months time within a pilot project supported by the Ministry of economy of Serbia.
- We began with production in 10 households in Kragujevac area, and then around 100 more flower producers from all over Serbia joined the project, said Mr. Zecevic.
According to his words, the project was finalized in June of this year, and the production of herbal plants was continued because of the large interest from the buyers both from domestic and foreign markets.
- We will continue exporting deals with our future clients from Greece, from whom we are expecting a call in three weeks, said Mr. Zecevic.
Cluster of Florists has increased in this year their basic floral production for 25%
- Flower production has become a profitable business, because members of the Cluster used advantages of the association and they were buying necessary material 20% below the real price, stated Mr. Zecevic.
He also stated that Cluster of Florists was going to open educational center in September, with a support of the local managements in Cuprija, Svilajnac and Paracin.
Kragujevac based Cluster of Florists was founded three years ago, as a local association with 9 members, and today it is the only national florists association that gathers 100 producers and around 30 companies involved in the business of seeding material and glasshouses construction.
