Reconstruction of Pramenac dam has begun – “Transport” company is the main contractor

After 48 years from construction, the first reconstruction of the dam on the Western Morava river in Parmenac near Cacak, has begun. The local management is going to invest 29,5 million RSD from the city’s budget.

Experts from “Transport”company, Pridvorice, the main contractor of works, said that the priority is sanitation of the dam,as the water below the dam has dig a foundation of nearly 4 meters of depth, which threatens to endanger the stability of entire hydro knot.

Reconstruction of the dam will improve Cacak city’s drinking water supply and it will also irrigate hundreds of hectares of agricultural land.

The works will be finished by mid November.

The … in Parmenac was built in 1961 for irrigation purposes of the agricultural land in Cacak city area.

At one period, it also served as a pool for hydro power plant “Medjuvrsje”, and since 1985 it has been used for additional water supply of Prijevor village.

Municipality court in Cacak confirmed in 2008 that the owner of the dam and hydro system was the Republic of Serbia, and Cacak city was the user, after which the local management gave the system to the hands of the city’s company “Waterway”.

Along with reconstruction of the dam, have started the works on cleaning and rehabilitation of the irrigation channel network which hasn’t been in use for decades.
