About 1,500 workers to voluntarily leave "Petroleum Industry of Serbia"

Administrative workers of NIS have two more days to use the opportunity to get severance pays for voluntary leave: applications for the leave based on the programme announced almost one month ago can be submitted prior to August 14th.

The company announced the beginning of that programme because it concluded that there were too many administrative and managerial employees - 5,000-12,000.

- The analysis that was carried out by company "SEL Global Solutions" in 2008 pointed to low productivity of work, flaws in the management system, and excess manpower in managerial positions - the Director General of the company, Kiril Kravčenko, said on that occasion.

Since the sales contract does not allow the company to lay off employees by the end of year 2012, and the market will be liberalized in about year and half, NIS did not want to wait and it offered the managers and administrative staff to leave the company voluntarily for the severance pay anticipated by the social programme - 750 EUR per year of work plus four average salaries.

Some time later, the company added another bonus for "volonteers" - up to 80% discount on repayment of the loan if the loan is paid immediatelly after the leave. But NIS also warned that that programme for administrative workers would be realized only one time.

- These are the best conditions in Serbia ever - says Jurij Masijanski, the Manager for Organizational Affairs.

- If we want Serbia to have an efficient refinery complex that produces quality and cheap fuel in two or three years, then we simply have no choice.

According to the data provided by "Blic", there are already more than 1,500 people who want to take severance pays and leave the company.

- Two thousand people - that is the maximum number of employees who can get the money from the company because of the financial situation, but the real number of excessive administrative and managerial staff is much bigger - said the source from NIS.
