Reconstruction and expansion of Patrija department store in Prijedor to start – MG Mind invests around BAM 7 million

Preparatory works on the reconstruction of the Patrija department store in the center of Prijedor have started recently, whereas the reconstruction and extension of the facility is expected to start in June. As MG Mind, the investor and the owner of Patrija, told eKapija, an investment of BAM 7 million (EUR 3.5 million) is planned.

– From the moment the contractor, the Prijedor-based company Unijat-M begins the reconstruction, the completion deadline period is around one year. We hope that the Patrija department store will be opened from the next summer for all citizen of Prijedor and the city's guests – MG Mind added.

The Patrija department store is located in the center of Prijedor, on Majora Zorana Karlice Square, and, as the author of the project, architect Bojan Sipka, says for our portal, it is one of the most important locations in the city.

– Under the project, the future shopping center will consist of a commercial part, which will comprise a single entity. The planned features in the commercial part of the facility are commerce and services – Sipka added.

It is pointed out that the gross area of the facility will increase from the current 7,700 to 9,550 m2.

– The functional units are clearly divided by floors. The basement will feature a market accessible from the square, and the ground floor will feature shops, a cafe and a restaurant. The first and the second floors are also meant for outlets, whereas the uppermost floor will feature a restaurant, an open balcony and a playroom for children.

The plan is for the Patrija department store to feature modern equipment and to be organized so as to offer a variety of content, attracting a large number of people.

– The parking will be solved through a special project in the second phase of the construction, namely, a parking garage on two levels and a square in front of the drama theater and the Music School – Sipka explains.

As he adds, the reconstruction of the Patrija department store as a modern center and the construction of the garage and the square in front of the drama theater and the Music School will revive the center of Prijedor, completing the urbanization of the city's central pedestrian zone.
