Sombor gets funds for expansion of capacities of Rancevo landfill

The Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection has reached the decision on the allocation of grants from the budget of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in 2019 for the co-financing of the preparation of the planning documentation. RSD 11 million was set aside for this purpose from the budget of the AP of Vojvodina, and agreements were signed with eleven towns and municipalities.

Under this decision, a sum of RSD 2 million was approved to the City of Somber for the Detailed Regulation Plan for the expansion of capacities of the existing landfill Rancevo – center for waste treatment.

On behalf of the City of Sombor, the agreement was signed at the Assembly of Vojvodina by the Sombor city councilor for municipal activities and investments, Miroslav Kovacic.

The Detailed Regulation Plan for the expansion of capacities of the existing landfill Rancevo center for waste treatment aims to define the rules of construction and development in order to upgrade the operations of the existing landfill through the concept of the processing of municipal and other waste so that the waste has the least possible impact on the environment after the processing. This will be achieved through a better and more efficient waste management, reduction of amounts of waste generated and waste management under the principle of sustainable development through the construction of a waste treatment center.

At the same time, it would secure a development of the current landfill through implementing adequate protection measures and technical and technological solutions for the reduction and prevention of negative impact on the air, the land and the surface and underground waters.
