Slovenian citizen buys first new IMT tractor – Tafe to initiate production in Jarkovac in early 2020

The symbol of Serbian farming mechanization, IMT, is drawing the most attention at this year’s Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad. The company has exhibited models IMT 539, IMT 549 and IMT 577. Of course, their flagship product is IMT 539. At this year’s fair, its price, without a cabin, is EUR 11,490, whereas the price with a cabin is EUR 12,290.

– The interest in this model has never waned. Due to the small size of the farms, the structure of the plant production in Serbia and ownership shares, the tractor is indispensible. Even when a household doesn’t use it as the main tractor, it’s still the third or the fourth tractor for smaller farming activities – explains Milan Prsic, owner and director of Agrouniverzal from Gornji Milanovac, Tafe’s dealer for these tractors, along with the Mladenovac-based partner Agrogas.

The Indian group Tafe, which produces 150,000 tractors a year, and which owns IMT, should start producing IMT tractors in the factory in Jarkovac in early 2020.

– At the moment, we assemble tractors, as Tafe and IMT tractors arrive here disassembled. The final process of production starts toward the end of the year. In the meantime, the infrastructure will be built, a new factory in Jarkovac, all the necessary features, tools and technology. From then on, it will be produced as a local product – Prsic clarified.

As the deputy director of Tafe, Kamal Ahuja, told Tanjug, this year, IMT will produce around 500 tractors in the factory in Jarkovac, and the facility will be expanded to close to 1,000 tractors in 2020.

– The IMT models which we have presented at the fair are assembled in the Jarkovac factory, and another two models will be assembled by the end of the year, IMT 565 and IMT 577. In early 2020, a new hybrid factory line for assembling tractors will become operational in Jarkovac. Tafe has also successfully developed four cabins for models IMT 539, IMT 549, IMT 565 and IMT 577, designed by Serbian engineers.

When it comes to Tafe models, Milan Prsic announced that they will switch to a magna series in time, which is more modern and slightly more expensive, and all these innovations will be implemented in IMT tractors. The models exhibited at the fair are TAFE 4615, TAFE 6515 and TAFE 8515.

It is interesting to note that the first IMT tractor from the new series was sold to Slovenian citizen Toni Savla on the first day of the fair.
