- Pančevo-based "Azotara" started production today (August 3, 2009) after one-year break - said Dušan Bajatović, the CEO of "Srbijagas".

- Trial production of ammonia started today, and we will have the first quantities of artificial fertilizer on Thursday night or Friday morning - Bajatović said at the press conference in "Azotara".

He said that it was the result of cooperation between the Government of Serbia, trade unions and managements of "Azotara" and "Srbijagas", which had taken over "Azotara" in 2009 because of the company's debts.

According to his words, the agreements that will make it possible for the factory to sell everything it produces by the end of the year has been made with the Government of Serbia, large suppliers and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

He said that the factory would be able to operate "according to the market principles with the profit of few million euros".

It was announced at the press conference that "Srbijagas" would be investing in modernization of units within the next five years in order to enable more efficient operations and environment protection.
