In order for the agreement with the German company Tonnies, one of the largest meat producers in Europe, to be signed, it is necessary to wait for the completion of the court procedure regarding the allocation of land for this investment in Zrenjanin, Serbian Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic said this Friday, May 10, 2019.

At the press conference held at the Embassy of Slovenia, on the occasion of the celebration of the World Bee Day, Nedimovic pointed out that there had been no problems regarding the lease of agricultural land to Tonnies.

He explained that two investments had been approved, one in Zrenjanin, the other in Kikinda.

– They are obliged to start realizing the first investment on November 1, 2019. We have not yet signed an agreement with them, only the necessary decisions were reached. As for Kikinda, there have been no problems there. As for the City of Zrenjanin, there have been certain complaints, and the procedure is ongoing – Nedimovic said.

Nedimovic says that the Ministry of Agriculture will honor any decision the court makes.

He reminded that Tonnies is one of the world’s biggest producers of pork.
