- Skopje-based pharmaceutical company "Alkaloid" plans to start production of drugs in association with Serbian "Infarm" from Zemun - the Director of the Belgrade-based branch office of that Macedonian company, Igor Petrov, announced today (July 22, 2009).

He said to the press that that company would invest 4m EUR and employ minimum 25 people in the first phase.

As he explained, the plan is that 19 types of drugs be produced in the second phase.

Petrov said that it was possible that the drugs from Serbia would be exported to Russia and 15 other countries where "Alkaloid" exported its products.

- After the investment cycle is finished, we will request the status of local manufacturer because we are going to employ about 70 people - said Petrov.

He estimated that Serbia lacked investments from Macedonia, and that "Alkaloid" would stimulate other companies to invest in Serbia.
