Lower taxes for passengers - Terminal 1 reopened at Airport "Nikola Tesla"

At the beginning of the next year, Belgrade-based Airport "Nikola Tesla" should register the largest growth of passengers in Europe thanks to liberalization of the civil air transportation market and white Schengen list.

In order to get ready for larger number of flights, after three years, the Belgrade airport has reactivated old Terminal 1. All technology is ready, and the checking of passengers for several charter flights of foreign companies has already been carried out successfully. During this week, Terminal 1 will be "tried" by charter airplanes of "Jat Airways".

During the test period, passengers at Terminal 1 will get discount on passenger service, and instead of 16.5 EUR, they will be paying 12 EUR for that tax. Discount will be in effect prior to July 20th, and it will concern the charter flights of the national airliner. The assumption is that Terminal 1 will be especially interesting to low-budget air transportation companies since the beginning of the next year.

- We are certain that we will be able to satisfy the needs of the strongest low-cost airliners, such as "Ryanair" and "Easyjet", although it is more likely that we will start hosting the largest low-cost airliners in central and east Europe - Hungarian "Wizz Air" and Austrian "Niki Lufthard" - said Radosavljević.

Airport "Nikola Tesla" serves two low-cost companies for a long time - "Germanwings" and "Norwegian Air ". Starting this summer, there are another three low-cost charter companies: Tunisian "Nuveler" and Turkish "AtlasJet" and "Pegasus Airlines".

Starting Wednesday, passengers in transfer at the Belgrade airport will be paying promotional price of 4 EUR for the passenger service. That will improve competitiveness of the Belgrade airport in the fight for regional position.

Epilogue with "Air France"

The accident that happened to "Air France" airplane whose left engine hit air-bridge during parking on June 11th has finally got an epilogue. The special commission of the Directorate for Civil Aviation of Serbia has determined that the air-bridge and the homing equipment were in order, and that the personnel of the Belgrade airport did their jobs in accordance with the regulations.
