Hotel in Ljubljana gets first sleeping capsules

The capital of Slovenia now has another interesting tourist attraction – the first 10 sleeping capsules which have been set up at Centralni Hotel in Ljubljana.

Reuters reports that Matej Rigelnik, chief executive officer of the hotel said that “this is a new story in Slovenia”, which has seen a surge in tourism since it joined the European Union in 2004.

Last year the number overnight stays by foreign tourists in Slovenia jumped by 15.4%, with most of them coming from Germany, Italy, Austria, Netherlands and Croatia.

Sleeping capsules were developed in Japan as low-budget accommodation, but have become popular over the years, making hotels change the whole concept into a luxurious type of accommodation.
