Open competition for 18 government auditors

National Audit Institution (DRI) announced the open competition today (July 13, 2009) for employment of 18 government auditors.

All interested candidates can apply for eight positions of authorized government auditors and for 10 jobs of government auditors, and the deadline for submission of applications is 15 days.

DRI, which was founded in September 2007, currently has 10 auditors and it operates in a room in the House of the National Parliament. That institution is authorized to control about 8,000 budget users.

The President of the Council of DRI, Radoslav Sretenović, told Beta that the new open competition for employment of government auditors and jobs in the professional services of DRI would be announced in ten days.

- We expect to move into the new premises at the beginning of August, so that DRI could employ 45 government auditors by the end of the year - said Sretenović and added that that institution must have minimum 70-80 auditors in order to be able to do the jobs it was authorized to do.

At the previous open competition, DRI sought candidates for 24 auditors, but only 34 out of 675 people who applied for the job were invited to have their skills checked, and the test were passed by only eight of them. Over 300 applications were submitted by the employees in government institutions.

According to the words of Sretenovića, small salary is the reason why so few qualified people applied for the job because they can obtain significantly larger salaries in commercial audit companies.
