MRKONJIĆ: World Bank's loan in use starting September 1st

- Serbia will be able to use World Bank's loan of 388m USD starting September 1st, and it will be used for construction of three road sections on "Corridor 10" - the Minister of Infrastructure of Serbia, Milutin Mrkonjić, said on July 10th.

He said at the press conference that the money would be used for construction of the following highway sections: Dimitrovgrad-Bulgarian border , Grabovnica-Grdelica and Vladičin Han-Neredovci.

The Board of executive directors of the World Bank has approved the loan of 388m USD to Serbia on Thursday, and it is the largest loan ever granted to Serbia by that finance institution.

The State Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Aleksandar Cvetanović, said that "Corridor 10" through Serbia was 835 km long, 300 km of which should be built in the following period.

Cvetanović said that the tender for project dossier for five sections should be finished "in few days", and that the tenders for construction of remaining sections on "Corridor 10" would be announced within the next 20 days.

It was explained at the press conference that expropriation and documentation for "Corridor 10" should be finished in 2009.

- We should receive about 1.2 billion EUR from the World Bank, European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to have Leskovac-Preševo and Niš-Dimitrovgrad sections built within the next three years - said he.
