Air Arabia cancels Sharjah – Belgrade flights

As Aviatica portal finds out, Arabic low-cost airline Air Arabia has given up on launching a direct line between Sharjah in United Arab Emirates and Belgrade.

The launch of the new line was planned for June 28. Four flights a week were meant to be carried out by Airbus A320 planes with 168 passenger seats.

Aviatica reports that the company has suddenly canceled the launch of the new line although they have recently found sales representative in Belgrade. As our portal learned, the cause of the cancellation was the lack of time for commercial preparation.

Air Arabia would have had a lot of competition on the line to Sharjah. Flydubai has for years now had a successful direct line from Belgrade to Dubai which is right next to Sharjah and together they make a unique urban area. This line is available under the Emirates designation under a codeshare agreement. Flydubai offers its passenger a wide range of flights to Middle East, Asia and Australia. Belgrade is also linked with Abu Dhabi through daily flights operated by Etihad Airways which also offers numerous connections to Asia.

There was recently an information about the Moroccan subsidiary of Air Arabia planning flights from Belgrade to Casablanca. However, so far this is only an idea the company has but there`s no official information about its realization. As e-kapija learns, the problem seem to be visa regime between Serbia and Morocco. Even though obtaining visas has been made easier, the consular services department lacks capacity to support launching this line.
