The construction of a tram railway between Ilidza and Hrasnica, with all the accompanying features, stops, signaling, power network, under the main project by the IPSA Institute, which has been submitted to the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton, should cost BAM 46 million (EUR 23 million), Klix.ba learns.

Representatives of the Government of the Sarajevo Canton and the Municipality of Ilidza signed the agreement on the realization of the project of the construction of the tram railway Ilidza-Hrasnica in October 2018, following which the IPSA Institute was contracted to prepare the project. The project is completed and has passed internal review and is now being sent for external review.

Under the project, this tram railway will have 11 modern stops. The tram line will go from the roundabout in Ilidza to the administrative border with Republika Srpska near Hrasnica.

The idea to build this tram railway dates back to 1986.

In 2015, the Ministry of Transport reinitiated the talks about the railway.
