The European Parliament has voted to abolish the daylight savings time.

They voted to stop the practice beginning with 2021.

Countries that plan to keep it should change their clocks for the last time in March 2021, and those that choose to eschew it need to set their clocks for the last time in October 2021, foreign media report.

Many member states implemented the DST during the 1970s oil crisis in an attempt to save energy.

Since 1996, all EU countries have been changing their clocks at the same time.
