A pigeon has been sold for EUR 1,252,000 at an auction in Belgium, making it the most expensive bird in the world.

Local media write that the West-Flemish racing pigeon named Armando has been sold online.

The five-year-old carrier pigeon, a racing champion, was bought by an unnamed Chinese bidder.

Still, it has been reported that the pigeon will not be used for racing, but for breeding.

Also, at an auction in Belgium in 2017, a carrier pigeon was sold for EUR 400,000.
