Boeing to release software patch for 737 MAX in late March

Boeing plans to release a new software patch for 737 MAX in late March, sources familiar with the matter said.

The upgrade will cover anti-stall systems and pilot displays, among other features. The new software has been developed in cooperation with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The software patch should make 737 MAX 8 safer. Its implementation means that flight crews will have to go through additional training in order to learn about the new options and operating procedures.

In the meantime, the investigations about the two recent plane crashes are ongoing.
