Serbia and Croatia signed agreement on economic cooperation

The agreement on economic cooperation between Serbia and Croatia was signed today (June 24, 2009) in Zagreb by Mlađan Dinkić and Damir Polančec, the deputy prime ministers of the two countries.
According to Croatian agency Hina, Dinkić and Polančec said that the exchange of goods between Croatia and Serbia in 2008, worth 830m EUR, had been significant for the economies of the two countries, but they also said that there were potentials for even greater and better economic cooperation.
The agreement was signed in the Ministry of Economy of Croatia in Zagreb after Croatian-Serbian talks about bilateral issues and numerous other subjects, which were estimated by the deputy prime ministers of the two countries as constructive and pragmatic.
According to the data provided by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, the value of exchange of goods between Serbia and Croatia in the first four months of year 2009 amounted to 189.6m USD, which means that it is two times smaller than in the same period last year.
The value of Serbia's import in 2008 amounted to 439.2m USD, while Croatia's import was worth 549.1m USD.
