GSP to lease 70 buses

GSP Belgrade has opened a tender for the procurement of new buses. However, the number of vehicles is not 210, as previously announced, but 70, and the procurement will take the form of a lease instead of a purchase.

The bid submission deadline is April 12, and the delivery deadline is only 60 days from the signing of the contract. As city officials announced previously, the aim is to have these new vehicles on the streets of Belgrade by September 1.

According to the documentation, all buses need to be of the same model and the same make, fully new and unused, rigid and low-floor buses, with a guarantee of at least three years for the whole vehicle.

The buses should be suitable for public transport, have three doors, a minimum of 26 seats and a capacity of at least 100 passengers. Mandatory features include, among other things, air conditioning, a radiator heating system, a LED info system, a mobile video supervision system, space for passengers with special needs, an automatic passenger counter and wireless internet.

The bidder obliges to organize drivers' training and the servicing within a 50-km radius of Belgrade.

Those in the know claim that there are not many companies that can deliver that many vehicles in such a small amount of time. Potential favorites are the Turkish Otokar and the French Iveco Bus. The former has been supplying Lasta with vehicles in the past years, whereas the latter recently sold 30 buses to Zagreb, whereas Serbian transporters also have Iveco's vehicles in their rolling stocks.

As the city officials announced, EUR 45 million has been secured for new buses. The majority of the amount, EUR 35 million, has been secured by the City of Belgrade through the 2019 budget rebalance, whereas the remaining EUR 10 million is provided by GSP Belgrade.
