American "Exim" announced 20m USD worth of investments in Jagodina

US company "Exim" announced yesterday (June 22, 2009) that it would invest 20m USD in construction of two units for production of medical appliances and metal structures in Jagodina.

The President of the Administrative Board of "Exim" group, Miroslav Aleksić, said in Jagodina that construction of two halls at 10,000 square meters each, alongside European "Koridor 10", was in the pipeline.

The hall where medical machines will be manufactured will employ 150 engineers, while about 600 workers will be engaged in production of metal structures in the other hall.

"Exim" group, of which headquarters is in Orlando, Florida, comprises 14 companies and 2 banks.

The Mayor of Jagodina, Dragan Marković, said that the city officials were doing its best to issue necessary license to “Exim” in order to accelerate realization of the investment.

- I expect that about 2,000 people will be employed in the industrial zone in Jagodina at the beginning of the next year, which is a great thing at the time of the economic crisis, not only for Jagodina, but also for Serbia – said Marković.

He added that certain Hungarian manufacturer of drugs would soon open production units in Jagodina and employ 70 people.
