City TRansportation Company Beograd plans to announce tender for GPS – electronic positioning of city transportation vehicles

Directorate for City Transportation plans to announce tender for introduction of system for satellite tracking of vehicles of city transportation company from one operative center (GPS-technology, global positioning system) until the end of 2005. The drivers will be in contact with traffic managers and will be getting instructions when to start, accelerate, stop, if needed. Some of the operators that are interested in installation of this system offer the possibility of check of exact time of arrival of the bus to any bus stop via sms at any time ! Many foreign companies are interested in installation of this equipment (“Motorola”, “Siemens“...), as well as some domestic companies that completely developed this program, such as company “Certus“. The money for installation of this equipment will be partly obtained from the credit of European Investmtent Bank and partly from the city budget.
