Construction of thermal power and heating plant in Pancevo to start on March 7

The official beginning of the construction of NIS' thermal power and heating plant (TE-TO) in Pancevo is scheduled for March 7, the company TE-TO Pancevo confirmed for Tanjug.

TE-TO will produce electrical and heating energy from natural gas and will be built within the complex of NIS Oil Refinery in Pancevo.

The main purpose of TE-TO (an investment worth EUR 180 million) is to satisfy the growing needs of the Pancevo refinery for electrical energy and steam.

TE-TO should also “contribute to an increase in the stability of supply of electrical energy, thanks to directing up to 65% of the power produced to the energy system of Serbia”, it is said on the NIS website.

In addition to NIS, whose majority owner is Gazpromneft, the construction of TE-TO also involves Gazpromenergoholding, a daughter company of Russia's Gazprom.

The design, the delivery of the equipment and the commissioning of TE-TO Pancevo have been put in charge of the industrial-energy holding Shanghai Electric Group.
