The current Belgrade City Architect, Milutin Folic, has announced that he will not run for the position again and that he will be succeeded by architect Marko Stojcic.

– After nearly five years spent in public positions in the City of Belgrade, I've decided not to run for a new term – Folic told Tanjug.

He added that he had made the decision and informed his colleagues at the City Assembly of Belgrade around the New Year, but that they had agreed to make it official immediately prior to the first next session.

He added that he would be succeeded by Marko Stojcic, whom he called “a remarkable architect and a good man”.

– I can say that, because we have worked together for the past five year and because he has been my closest associate and deputy – Folic said.

As he pointed out, together, they have set the strategy of the city's development and adopted more than 200 detailed regulation plans.

– Marko is familiar with all projects and his appointment will secure continuity – Folic said.

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic confirmed this on TV Studio B.
