Export of IT services surpasses EUR 1 billion for the first time, growth of 26% compared to 2017

The National Bank of Serbia has published data on the payment balance of the Republic of Serbia in 2018. As predicted, IT services broke a new record with exports worth EUR 1.135 billion, a growth of 26% compared to 2017, when the exports amounted to EUR 899 million.

A new record was also set when it comes to the trade balance (the difference between export and import), which reached EUR 615 million in 2018 (compared to EUR 473 million in 2017), making up more than a half of the total trade balance of the service sector.

Unlike previous years, when tourism and transport had larger exports than the IT sector (although with a far lower trade balance), this year, the export of IT services was larger than in any other industry in the field of services.
