Italian store chain Eurospin to arrive to Croatia

A new Italian discount store chain, Eurospin, is arriving to Croatia. They have not yet officially confirmed their arrival, but they have set up a webpage in Croatian.

It says: “Patience, please... We are coming.” The job ads call for workers in Zagreb and Rijeka. Eurospin has been operating for years in Italy and Slovenia, 24 Sata writes.

Eurospin is a discount store chain, which means that each store may have up to 800 articles. For the sake of comparison, supermarkets may have up to 6,000 products.

On their Croatian webpage, they cite the Italian consumer association Altroconsumo, which claims that an average family in Italy can save up to HRK 32,412 a year shopping at their stores instead of at supermarkets.

New players usually prepare their arrival in secrecy, the Croatian Chamber of Economy says. The competition is already strong, and top 10 food traders hold 80% of the market. Along with strong international brands, there are also strong regional traders.
