Construction of Morava Corridor might start in late summer – Work completion deadline period at least two and a half years

Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced on February 11 that, if a financial agreement on the construction of the Morava Corridor was signed in the upcoming months, the construction might start in late summer or early autumn.

Guesting on TV Prva, the minister reminded of the meetings she had had in London not too long before, where she talked to top officials of Bechtel about the manner of financing of the Morava Corridor in the length of 110 kilometers, the value of which is EUR 800 million.

– We are ready to start the works as soon as the financing agreement is signed, in the next few months – Mihajlovic said.

She says that the work completion deadline period is at least two and a half years.

Mihajlovic said that she expected representatives of Bechtel and other financial organizations to visit Belgrade in the next week, where they should have talks with Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali, according to her.

– I would say that we are very close to discussing the beginning of the construction – the minister says.

She points out that the project-technical documentation for the Morava Corridor has been prepared for the past two years and that entirely new documentation has been prepared for the South Morava section.
