Subotica Plaza to get a new look – Reconstruction of fountain and National Theater planned

Zelena Fontana (Green Fountain), located in the very center of Subotica, which hasn't been operational for a number of years and is currently in a very bad condition, will soon be reconstructed, for which purpose RSD 120 million has been set aside.

The works are expected to begin as soon as the necessary paperwork is finished, and if the weather conditions allow for it, the reconstruction might be completed by the end of the year.

– The works are expected to begin after the public procurement procedure is carried out and the contractor is selected. The project does not entail construction in phases. If the weather conditions are favorable, there's a possibility of having the works finished by the end of 2019 or by early 2020 at the latest. Due to the technology being out-of-date, the project has been changed – the Secretariat for Investments and Development says.

Due to excessive water outflow into the area directly underneath the Town Hall, the fountain stopped working eight years ago. Its reconstruction will coincide with the reconstruction of the National Theater building, changing the look of the entire area.
