Deutsche Bahn to buy 200 trains – Investment worth EUR 6 billion

Deutsche Bahn, which manages the German railway network, intends to buy 200 new trains by 2024 in order to unburden its fleet and incite more people to use trains instead of cars. The value of the investment is estimated at EUR 6 billion.

By the end of the year, 15 new Fast Intercity trains will be used, and other models will be added to the fleet later.

German long-distance trains transported over 145 million passengers last year, three million more than in 2017. Deutsche Bahn plans to increase the number to 200 million by 2030.
