EPS and Italian "SECI Energia" to join forces in construction of power plants on the Ibar

Public company "Electric Power Company of Serbia" (EPS) and Italian company "SECI Energia" signed the agreement yesterday (June 8, 2009) in Belgrade on construction of nine hydroelectric power plants on the Ibar river.

The CEO of public company "Electric Power Company of Serbia", Dragomir Marković, said to the press in the Palace of Serbia that EPS was optimistic concerning that project and that he expected that "new and pure energy will be obtained from the Ibar in few years".

The President of company "SECI Energia", Gaetano Maccaferi, pointed out that the signing of the agreement on construction of nine hydroelectric power plants was important for both Serbia and Italy because the agreement "will help development of the energy sector".

- That agreement provides guarantee that energy will be supplied from renewable sources and creates an opportunity for Serbia to revitalize the energy potentials it has - Maccaferi pointed out.
