BAJATOVIĆ: Meeting with representatives of Gazprom Bank to be held soon

The Director General of "Srbijagas", Dušan Bajatović, announced today (June 8, 2009) that the meeting with the President of the Executive Board of Gazprom Bank, Andrej Akimov, about the way in which that bank can enter Serbian market, would be held the next week.

Bajatović said at the press conference that Russians were willing to provide 100m EUR for additional capitalization of one of the banks in Serbia with the majority state-owned capital.

As he explained, the possibility of additional capitalization is taken in consideration, as well as founding of the joint bank of "Srbijagas" and "Gazprom".

Bajatović also announced the possibility of arrival of an investment fund and a Russian insurance company, which would monitor the works on realization of project Južni Tok.

- Insurance company "Sogas" is a partner of "Gazprom", and it is normal that Južni Tok brings banks, insurance companies and investment funds to Serbia in order to help realization of that project - said Bajatović.

He reminded that he had spoken to Akimov at the International Economic Forum in Sankt Peterburg, which was held between June 4 and 6, about the arrival of Russian finance institutions in Serbia.
