The Novi Sad bus factory "Neobus" announced that it would deliver 27 buses to Saudi Arabia on June 8th and, thus, start exporting buses again after 18 years.

According to the announcement, 15 midi-buses and 12 tourist buses for transportation of pilgrims to Mecca and Medina.

The buses are manufactured in association with companies FAP from Priboj and Famos from Sarajevo, and they are equipped with special engines that cool the passenger space, which have nothing to do with the engines that start the vehicle.

"Neobus" was bought at an auction in 2004 by Ala Magrabi Mohamedali, a businessman from Saudi Arabia.

The management of "Neobus" announced in April that it had started realization of the pre-contract with Dutch company VDL from Eindhoven on production of 150 tourist buses for Western European market.

Once the contract is signed, 14 buses will be manufactured every month over the period of three years, and total value of the contract is etimated at 50m EUR.

In addition to the deal with VDL, "Neobus" also maintains a long-term cooperation with company "Volvo", with which it signed the contract on strategic partnership for Southeast Europe in 2006.
