General hospitals in Kraljevo, Valjevo, Vranje and Zrenjanin, which have been reconstructed thanks to the loans approved by the World Bank within the scope of project "Development of Serbian Health Care", will become the models for other hospitals in our country. The Minister of Health of Serbia, Tomica Milosavljević, has presented the project and said that the value of the works that had been carried out in the period 2004-2009 was 20m EUR.
- Implementation of this project will be resumed in some hospitals. The World Bank has approved another 10.5m EUR for continuation of reconstruction of hospitals within the next three years - said Milosavljević.
The Director of the World Bank's Health Sector for Europe and Central Asia, Abdo Jazbek, estimated that Serbia had come the long way to keep the pace with European countries in that project, of which aim was that the health care system became profitable and equal.
The results of project "Development of Serbian Health Care" have ensured further support from the World Bank for project "Delivery of Improved Local Services (DILS)" which is worth 32m EUR, and it will be partially financed by the ministries of health, education, labor and social policy.
