The Ambassador of Germany to Serbia, Wolfram Mas, said today (June 2nd, 2009) that, starting from year 2000, Germany had set aside 700m EUR for Serbia within the scope of bilateral economic cooperation.
At the celebration occasioned by the commencement of works on revitalization of Hydroelectric Power Plant (HE) "Bajina Bašta" in Perućac, Mas pointed out that major share of those funds - about 350m EUR - was intended for support to Serbian energy sector.
- The aim is that Serbia, as a member of southeastern energy community, gets support in their efforts to ensure more efficient production and better use of energy, as well as to receive help in implementation of European environmental standards - said Mas.
He pointed out that Germany, backed by German Development Bank (KfW), would keep supporting Serbia in its use of environment-friendly energy resources.
He announced that German Federal Government would back revitalization of another power plant on the Drina - Hydroelectric Power Plant "Zvornik" - with 70m EUR.
