3D-printed bridge opens in Shanghai

The bridge was built in the Baoshan District using modern construction techniques.
Professor Xu Weiguo is the lead designer, and the bridge consists of 44 concrete components, while the handrails are divided into 68 units. It took 450 hours to print out the concrete components.
Experts estimate that this method allows for savings of 33% compared to traditional construction.
The bridge features a real-time monitoring system, which detects potential deformations. Unlike traditional bridges, this one doesn't feature reinforced concrete.
The first 3D-printed concrete bridge opened in October 2017 in the Netherlands.
