Novi Sad to get new football stadium?

Novi Sad might soon get a new football stadium, with the support of the state. It will be built in line with the highest European and world standards, in the location of the current Karadjordje stadium.

Mayor Milos Vucevic announced this to the press ahead of the session of the Town Assembly and added that a meeting had been held with representatives of the Public Investments Office on that occasion.

– We want to secure the project and the money for the construction of a new stadium in the same location, a modern sports facility that Novi Sad deserves.

The new stadium, Vucevic added, would be built under the “design and construction” system as a classic covered stadium, in line with the strict standards of UEFA and FIFA.

The new sports facility will also feature an adequate parking lot.

– Preliminary drafts also include two underground parking levels, the feasibility of which will be examined by designers.

Vucevic noted that the football stadium would probably not feature a running track, as one is planned within the Athletic Center in Jugovicevo.

As Vucevic added, the construction of a whole new stadium in the same location might be cheaper than the reconstruction of the current one, which will be determined by experts.
