The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, who is in charge of European integrations, handed the request for the approval of loans in JPY, intended for financing of environmental and public infrastructure projects in Serbia, to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Jasutosha Nishimura, on Saturday (May 23, 2009).

Following the meeting with the delegation of Japan, Đelić said that those loans would be used for financing of two projects. The first concerns elimination of sulfur from smoke gases in steam power plant "Nikola Tesla", and the second is intended for resolving of wastewater problems in Belgrade and other boroughs.

According to Đelić's words, the value of each of the projects is 200m EUR.

- The loans in JPY are the most favorable in the world, with the interest rate of 0.6 - 1.7%, the repayment period of 15 to 25 years, and grace period of five to seven years, and maybe even ten years", Đelić pointed out.
