Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic was on a two-day visit to Egypt, and the export of Serbian wheat to Egypt, the world’s biggest purchaser of this grain, was agreed at the minister’s meeting with his Egyptian colleagues.

– Serbia is on its way to penetrating the Egyptian market, which numbers over 100 million residents – Nedimovic stated, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.

He added that the agricultural trade of the two countries amounted to USD 26 million and that the agreement should make it increase four times to over USD 100 million.

During his visit, Nedimovic met with Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Ezzaldin Omar Abusteit and Minister of Supplies Ali al-Muselhi, the Serbian ministry announced.

All the exporting procedures have been finalized, and the finalization of the procedures for the export of beef, sunflowers, corn and other agricultural products from Serbia was also agreed.

The importance of the visit is shown by the fact that, since the dissolution of Yugoslavia, there has been no direct contact between Serbian and Egyptian officials in the field of agriculture.
