Factory "Prva iskra Barič" starts production of bio-diesel

In ten days, factory "Prva iskra Barič" will start production of cheaper fuel – biodiesel. This factory will be the first to produce this fuel made of natural oils, 10 cents cheaper than petroleum.

Several thousands tons of biodiesel were produced in 1994. The units exists since then and the technology has been improved. They stopped production because there wasn’t enough oilseed rape, which is used, together with other herbal and animal oils, for production of biodiesel. Everything is ready for annual production of about 20,000 tons with the tendency and opportunities for production growth.

Germany already produces 1 million tons per year and it plans to double that quantity. With the increase in price of petroleum, biodiesel has become the world trend. By use of strategic program, in the countries members of European Union, biodiesel will take part with 5.7% of total consumption of fuel in 2005.
