Veroljub Stevanovic was born on September 17, 1946 in Kragujevac. In
1972 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
University of Kragujevac, and he was employed in the car factory
"Zavodi Crvena Zastava" at production, technology and maintenance
sector.
He has been actively participating in political life since 1993. It was than when he became Member of National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and stayed at that position up to 2001, at the same time he was Member of Parliament of the Assembly of the Federative Republic of Yugoslavia in the period from 1997 to 2001.
In 2000 he shared the position of the minister of industry in the transitional Government of the Republic of Serbia.
But he is the best known as he was voted mayor of Kragujevac on the first democratic election in 1996. He was in the office until 2001. In 2004-2008 he served the second mandate. Now he is appointed by the City of Kragujevac Assembly for the third time as mayor of Kragujevac. At 2008 general election he has been once more chosen Member of National Assembly.
He speaks two foreign languages. He is married and has two daughters.source: www.kragujevac.rs
