Messer BH Gas to invest EUR 5 million in 2019

Messer BH Gas, a producer of industrial gases, will invest another BAM 10 million (EUR 5 million) in B&H in 2019, Valentin Ilievski, the company’s director general, told eKapija. They didn’t want to specify the details of this investment.

– In early December, the group decided to invest an additional BAM 10 million in the production in B&H in 2019, whereby we are sending the message that we intend to stay here for another 30 plus years – Ilievski said.

Messer BH Gas was recently recognized by FIPA as one of the 12 most important investments in B&H in 2018. As Ilievski announced, all the plans were accomplished in 2018, primarily pertaining to the expansion of production capacities and investments in human resources and infrastructure.

– In 2018, we surpassed our plans when it comes to the production of CO2, thanks to the opening of another facility in addition to the one in Sockovac, which has led to an increase in the production and the sales. We sell everything we produce. If we were to open a third facility, we would have sales secured in advance, as there’s a great demand for CO2 in B&H and the region – Ilievski emphasized.

He says that, in addition to the opening of the new facility, the best business decision in the past year was to build an administrative, logistics and distribution center, that is, a new branch office, in Banjaluka. Messer is now present throughout B&H, in Mostar, Sarajevo, Zenica, Sockovac, Banjaluka and Bihac.

In the upcoming year, Messer will continue to produce, expand the market and invest in the overall development and the facility infrastructure.

– We have realized the annual plan in all three Messer companies in B&H. Compared to last year, the sales increased by 17%, whereas the EBITDA increased by 21%. In the region, we have realized a double-digit increase in the sales and the profit compared to 2017.

Messer arrived to B&H immediately after the war and has been taking part in the development of the domestic economy for 21 years now. FIPA has pronounced the company one of the most successful foreign investments on several occasions. Ten years ago, they were also recognized as a greenfield investment.
