Parliament members will soon confirm seven agreements between Serbia and Montenegro regulating the border traffic regime, but also the border crossings between the two states. By the end of 2020, a new border crossing will be built on the existing Gostun location, but the agreements also entail the opening of another two border crossings.

Common border crossings, which entail control by both customs services in a single place, are also planned in Godovo, Serbia, on the Tutin-Rozaje route, and Cemerno, Montenegro, on the Priboj-Pljevlja route.

– The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia has signed an agreement on the construction of the common border crossing Gostun and the works are expected to start soon – the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the signees, says.

Regarding the initiative of the Republic of Montenegro to have the Gostun-Dobrakovo border crossing built as a common border crossing, negotiations about the features necessary for joint operations with the Montenegrin bodies are currently in progress. The signed agreements do not change the operations of the border police of the Republic of Serbia, nor the operations of the phytosanitary services on the border crossings to Montenegro.

The Customs Administration explains that the planning of the Gostun border crossing, on the Prijepolje-Bijelo Polje, is in progress. The agreement on the construction has been signed and the building permit has been obtained, and the deadline for the completion is the final day of 2020.

– The agreements between Serbia and Montenegro on border crossings plan for the Gostun border crossing to remain open 24 hours a day – the Customs Administration explains.
