Đoković triumphed at first ATP tournament in Belgrade - Kubot and Marah won doubles title

Novak Djokovic is the champion of Belgrade defeating Pole Lucacs Kubot in the final in straight sets 6:3, 7:6 (7:0). This is the Serb's 13th ATP career title.
- It is a great honor to be the first winner of SERBIA OPEN. This victory means the most to me in my whole career, as this was the first time I played in front of domestic audience. It was not easy, even though Kubot is ranked on a much lower position than I am. Now, I feel so much better, as I was under the great pressure the whole time, being the first favorite. All I would like to do tonight is to celebrate this victory with those closest to me - Djokovic stated.
The champion received a cheque worth 75000 Euro and 250 ATP points
while the runner-up received a cheque worth 39.700 Euro and 150 ATP
points. The Pole who is currently ranked 179th on the ATP World Tour rankings has
never reached a tournament final of this caliber. Kubot who made the
main draw as a qualifier has also placed his name in history, by being
the first Polish tennis player to have reached an ATP final in 27
years.
- I am more nervous now than when I was on court. I congratulate Novak and wish him all the best for the remainder of the season. The tournament has been fantastic and I believe that it will receive excellent appraisal. Thank you Serbia and I hope to see you again next year - Stated Kubot after his defeat.
Serbian President Boris Tadic congratulated Novak on his triumph, and emphasized significance of the tournament for Serbia and its reputation in the world.The closing ceremony of the first ATP tournament followed the final match.
What Kubot was not able to achieve in the singles final today he achieved in the doubles. The Pole paired with Austrian Oliver Marach and defeated Swede Johan Brunstrom and Jean-Juliein Rojer from the Netheralnds Antilles in straight sets 6:2, 7:6 (7-3). This is the duos second ATP doubles title together.
