Subsidized loans for travels across Serbia

- The Government of Serbia will be subsidizing consumer loans for tourist arrangements in Serbia – the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development told Beta agency.

The loans will be approved through business banks with interest rate of 4.5% on annual basis and repayment period of 6 to 12 months.

"The aim of this measure is to help local tourism economy in the conditions of the global economic crisis by stimulating demand for tourist travels in Serbia", said the people from that Ministry.

The citizens can travel to certain destinations in Serbia at lower price, with or without the mediation of a tourist agency.

It is expected that that measure will maintain or even increase employment rate in tourism sector, and that it will enlarge the incomes from value added tax (VAT).

The loans are anticipated by the Government’s new measures that are aimed at alleviation of consequences of the global economic crisis.
