Prime Minister Ana Brnabic signs memorandum with director of World Economic Forum for Europe and Eurasia, Martina Larkin

Serbian Prime Minister signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the director of the World Economic Forum for Europe and Eurasia, Martina Larkin, on Friday, December 14, and said that the document would have a positive influence on the region as well.

– This is an important day for our economy, science and future – Ana Brnabic told the press at the Government of Serbia after the signing of the memorandum.

The World Economic Forum analyzes policies related to the most current political, economic, social and security issues.

Brnabic said that the signing of the memorandum was the crown of years of intensive work and a range of initiatives.

The establishment of the cooperation between Serbia and the World Economic Forum, according to her, “confirms the results of the reforms and the strengthening of the Serbian economy”.

She added that the memorandum was also a confirmation of the direction Serbia has taken, from being an investment-based economy to being an innovation-based economy.

The prime minister pointed out that Serbia was the only country in the region to have signed an agreement with the World Economic Forum.

Brnabic said that one of the topics at the next year’s Davos would be “The Western Balkans and the Possibility of Closer Cooperation”.

Larkin said that the World Economic Forum had cooperated with Serbia and the countries of the region for a long time and that she hoped that those countries would make progress economically and in the field of digitalization.

– We believe that Serbia has a great potential and that it is the leader in the region when it comes to the implementation of new technologies – Larkin said and added that they wanted to include youth organizations as well.
