The operations of the goods customs outpost in Presevo have not been permanently discontinued, but temporarily halted due to technical problems, the Customs Administration of Serbia announced.
– The reasons the operations stopped on November 25 are technical in nature. The outpost will remain non-operational until an adequate solution is found, the Customs Administration told Beta in response to the allegations in the media from Pristina that the terminal on the border between Serbia and Macedonia is permanently closed and that the closing has a political background.
The Customs Administration believes that the economy in Serbia's south will not suffer consequences due to this, as customs clearance can be carried out at the nearest customs outpost, the one in Vranje, and all other available outposts.
The 13 customs officials from the Presevo outpost have been sent to other units of the Nis customs system.
– The temporary halt will last only until a public call opens through which the Customs Administration will look to find a long-term solution – the Customs Administration of Serbia said.
