All public officials except for ministers to be trained – Kindness in focus

Assistant ministers and other public administration officials who are appointed to the leading positions for the first time will need to be trained at the National Academy for Public Administration, while ministers are exempt, Danas reports.

The acting director of the National Academy, Drazen Maravic, told Danas that the academy would carry out “professional, not academic education” and that the courses would take three days, with additional two-day courses to be organized according to the needs.

According to him, public officials will receive training in digital and general literacy and foreign languages, and the focus will be on the kindness in communication with citizens and the openness toward the media, as recently noted by President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic on several occasions.

– We carry out training for public administration officials, that is, employees at ministries and other state bodies, as well as in local self-governments. There are only a few traditional lectures and plenty of practical work, which should enable people to apply the law independently – Maravic said.

The information available to Danas says that the plan is for 4,000 people to be trained this year and 6,000 next one, whereas, in the upcoming years, the number should grow to around 10,000.
