National Association of Green Roofs and Terraces

The National Association of Green Roofs and Terraces was established in Novi Sad in May 2018 by Erker Engineering, with the aim of gathering the professional and public expertise and to proactively influence the awareness and the need for green construction in every segment of the construction industry.

This is a national, non-profit and non-governmental organization, which cites as its aims the promotion and improvement of the green construction idea and concept, encouraging changes in the way of urban planning, design, construction and restoration of facilities and the manner of their use and maintenance, raising the level of national awareness of highly efficient construction practices that are sustainable and cost-effective, supporting public-private dialogue concerning changes in laws and by-laws and encouraging the necessary amendments to the laws and by-laws as a basis for sustainable development and the practice of green construction.

The green roof has all the advantages of a backyard at an attractive location in the city. Besides resembling a mesmerizing green oasis in the middle of the city, green roofs put a noble touch to living in buildings and have many functional and economic advantages over ordinary roofs.

They provide thermal insulation and thus reduce heating costs by up to 20%, absorb sound, reduce noise and extend roof lifespan by protecting it from UV radiation while the greenery acts as air filter and creates a better quality of microclimate.
